Em Agosto de 2004 no Japão a SNK Playmore lança o The King Of Fighters: Maximun Impact o primeiro em 3D e mesmo sem os trio de lutadores que marcaram a série e com apenas 20 jogadores (o menor número de jogadores selecionáveis numa versão do jogo) teve um bom retorno e já foi anunciado KoF Maximun Impact 2 e 3. A História do anime se passa após o termino do jogo KoF Maximun Impact, Com a derrota de Duke, South- Town passa a ser controlada pelos irmãos Alba e Soiree.
Uma noite na ausência de Alba South-town é tomado pela chamas, Soiree acaba encontrando Iori Yagami que perdeu o poder das joias de Yasakani e assim, o prólogo de uma nova batalha se inicia...
